Conclusion

I have already told you how I realized I was an introvert. Thanks to Introvert, Dear I learned that “introvert hangover” and “introvert exhaustion” are actual conditions. Better still, the result of being an introverted person who’s pushing (way) past their social battery. Since then, I researched the most frequent signs shared by introverts, and took one further step.

I wanted to know more and taking a specific test was a great idea. I mean, I have always had a knack for tests to know yourself better and gain better insights into my psyche. I believe them. So why not educate myself on introversion a little more? If I remember correctly, I owe this eye-opening moment to a colleague, who introduced me the free personality test that I am sharing in this article.

Mary: Quietly Introverted

What to know before taking a test.

First off, I cannot stress enough how empowered you will feel once you receive the report. It will provide exact information on your personality type and a wealth of additional insights.

Like I wrote, I haven’t always been aware of my introversion, let alone which type. By which I mean ‘I wish I hadn’t spent my twenties and early thirties unaware of it’. Sad but true (what can I say, I am always late).

If your journey is anything like mine – and I somehow hope you are much younger than I was when I discovered about being an introvert – you will start re-evaluating life up to now.

You will feel seen, acknowledged.

The thing is, up to now you probably expected yourself to function as a ‘normal’ person, whatever it means. Seamlessly moving from your workplace or school to a gym, quick shower then on to a dinner with your best friends, to finish off the evening with a quick catch-up phone call with your parents. Plenty of human company, energy galore, a little small talk to get the conversation going.

Gosh, I am exhausted just typing it.

Secondly, you will understand you are not alone. There are millions of people just like you and me, even if you belong to one of the less widespread MBTI personality types.

A lot of fellow introverted women and men love to be alone and need to be alone almost all the time
A lot of fellow introverted women and men hate small talk
A lot of fellow introverted women and men seem to have to recharge frequently in between social interactions
A lot of fellow introverted women and men love their friends and family but only in small doses

Fill in the blanks…. With everything you deemed unconventional, weird, wrong, sick, different before learning the truth.

Lastly, you take a test to learn about a piece of the truth about who you are. To become a confident introvert all right, although in addition to all the other wonderful things you are.

What I’m trying to say is to not depend on test results to dictate your next steps or justify any harm. I mean, if you are super energetic and usually do all of the above (Seamlessly moving from your workplace or school to a gym, quick shower then on to a dinner with your best friends, to finish off the evening with a quick catch-up phone call with your parents. Plenty of human company, energy galore, a little small talk to get the conversation going) then good for you!

You don’t have to stop now because someone/something put you in some sort of box.

In line with this analogy, you will take the test to live an empowered life as a confident introvert thanks to the equipment you have found in that box. As opposed to going into the box and staying there forever.

The most accurate MBTI test I have found (and taken).

If you are reading these words, chances are you are an introvert, but have never taken a test before.

I honestly had no clue I could access such life-changing information simply by taking one either (for free, online, no human contact involved!). Once I found out, I saw things clearly for the first time in years.

16 Personalities – Free Test

mbti test

This stands the test of time (pun not intended!) as the most accurate MBTI test for me. Totally free, taken by millions of people, it will bring a beautiful sense of belonging into your life, I hope.

Personally, introversion is one of the three main areas that needed awareness, healing, and strengthening. I began my big journey into holistic health and healing with spirituality; slowly, I accepted the fact that I needed to address childhood conditioning. Lastly, intuition helped discover the last piece that desperately needed attention: introversion.

Consequently, I was elated by the results of the test: not only did it confirm I was an introvert, but it also explained it quite accurately. For this knowledge and its accessibility, I am forever grateful.

I’m not kidding. When you learn about your specific personality type, you experience a feeling of ‘coming home at last’ along with a powerful sense of liberation.

You will want to shout: ‘I knew it!’ to yourself and at the whole darn world — which hasn’t seemed to get you so far.

About the test

Whether you’ve taken zero to only a few tests to know yourself better, you’re probably familiar with the emotional memory of navigating life carrying unresolved trauma, unaware of your introversion.
I, for one, used to question some natural inclinations:

Why do I need so much alone time?
Why do I feel drained after being in a group of people?
Why do I have to race home after a day at the office?

So, in hopes of saving you months of doubts and frustration because of not better identified causes, I’m sharing the link to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, was developed by Isabel Myers and her daughter Katharine Briggs. It is meant to be a self-report personality assessment, based on Carl Jung’s theory on psychological types. While there are many free options online, I find the one by 16 Personalities the most accurate MBTI test you can take to really go to the core of the matter.

It provides positive language for understanding and valuing individual differences […] with practical insight that’s easy to understand and implement.

The Myers Briggs Company

It opens a window on your individual preferences, strengths, and weaknesses. It helps make sense of your relationships, career preferences, and views. You are going to fall into one of four pairs, based on the following dichotomies:

  • Extraversion vs Introversion (E vs I)
Opposite ways to direct and receive energy
  • Sensing vs Intuition (S vs N)
Opposite ways to take in information
  • Thinking vs Feeling (T vs F)
Opposite ways to decide and come to conclusions
  • Judging vs Perceiving (J vs P)
Opposite ways to approach the outside world

Finally, you will read about YOU, not who you are supposed to be/how to behave/what to fix.

You are a perfect, highly functioning human being as is. As an introvert, as an extrovert, or anything these tests to know yourself better disclose.

The importance of knowing yourself lies right here: in being aware and working for (not against) the wonderful material you were handed at birth.

If you are an introvert, though, from now on your job is to recognize your innate strengths and improve your ability to set boundaries. It takes practice but I am sure you will appreciate becoming a more and more confident introvert. A person who will feel less resentful and more peaceful.

Personally, I remember devouring the results, not without a pinch of doubt. I was told I was an INFP with such accuracy that sounded a bit unbelievable. Too accurate to be true, almost too good to be true. I gave in, at last, and dove deep into the report. Enough with self-sabotage, already!

Hadn’t it been for this amazing resource, I would never have gained such essential insight, the missing piece that my journey through spirituality and childhood conditioning was craving. The report you’re given access to — for free — is lenghty and more accurate than you’d imagine.

More free tests to know yourself better as an introvert

Like I was saying, I shared the most accurate MBTI test in my experience. Their free report will prove more than enough to get started and know yourself better. Once you do it and receive the results, you wish you had done it sooner.

However, if you want to go deeper, you can take a paid assessment either with them or any other platform that offers a free sample.

I am going to an additional website where you can take a test based the theory of 16 personalities and a few interesting others.

I don’t want to distract you with too much information, which is why I am not sharing completely different types of assessment.

The two additional resources shared below stem from or are connected with the theory and work of Myers Briggs’.

If you decide to give them a try, you will see that you will be offered life-changing information from slightly different angles, even though in a coherent + cohesive manner. While some insights will be practically the same, other bits will sound new but in harmony with what you’ve discovered so far.

Basically: you’re gifted incredible information and the space to elaborate it without any overwhelm.

TypeFinder Personality Test

As explained on Truity’s homepage, their TypeFinder Personality Test is based on

“the personality theory created by Isabel Myers and Katharine Briggs. It measures your preferences on Myers and Briggs’ four dimensions of personality type, as well as 23 more detailed facets of type to personalize your results.”

The report is issued for free, nonetheless you can also pay for an extended one.

Their platform is pleasant to look at and browse, plus it offers a couple of different tests, among which the one to discover The Enneagram. A fantastic find to complement knowledge on introversion.

In short, their website looks like a legitimate place to investigate how to become a quietly empowered + confident introvert.
